ALASKA AND RANCH DRESSING

Millions of people a year use Ranch Dressing for their salads, dipping sauce, and various other reasons. I personally love it! It was this passion of love that I wanted to know where it came from, who thought up this wonderful dressing. It was in my research it that it was actually thought up and discovered in Alaska! Who would have thought that someone working in the bush in Alaska could have come up with something so wonderful!

It was Steve Henson a plumbing contractor working in the Alaska bush in the early 1950’s that was responsible for this wonderful invention! In 1954 he opened a dude ranch near Santa Barbara, California, where he served his guests this wonderful tasty sauce. He then began to sell it in packets where people could take it home and mix it with mayonnaise and buttermilk. Thus Hidden Valley Ranch was born and he started to mass produce it. He however then sold it in 1972 to Clorox for $8 million dollars, which would be worth about 45 million dollars in 2015. Have to say not too bad for a plumbing contractor working in the bush in Alaska!
